Free Comic Book Day 2014 Announced by LeVar Burton
Free Comic Book Day is a day children and adults look forward to every year. This year, I had the pleasure to chat with LeVar Burton during Disney Social Media Moms, who recorded a very special message telling you about Free Comic Book Day 2014 on May 3rd.
Watch LeVar Burton, although you don’t have to take his word for it.
Host of Reading Rainbow, LeVar Burton, is a long time promoter of children reading. May 3rd is definitely a great time to encourage children to read.
Three things you need to know about Free Comic Book Day on May 3, 2014.
- Visit Free Comic Book Day to find a participating location near you.
- Choose wisely. Every store is different. Some have characters and different events.
- There are over 60 titles to choose from so chances are very good that even the most reluctant of readers will find one they like.
Bring your children. Bring your neighbor. Go and have a great time picking out your free comic book.
One last piece of information you probably should know.
Plan to bring some money with you. Yes, the comics are free but there is a really good chance when you receive your very first comic of your own, even when it happens when you are a grown adult woman, you just might begin to look around the store and discover other great treasures. That happened to me when we walked past a store on Free Comic Book Day many years ago. We had never heard of it before but now mark the date every single year. Our boys know it is a tradition. Now you can make it a family tradition too.
Our family was invited to the 2014 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration where I paid a conference fee to attend and won an exclusive one-on-one opportunity with LeVar Burton. Our family received discounted and complimentary items from Disneyland and sponsors as part of the conference but were not asked to write about our experiences. All opinions, experiences, and love for Disney are entirely our own. Free Comic Book Day is a natural love of ours and did not ask for this post.
