Star Wars Rebels Premieres

Star Wars Rebels Premieres

Star Wars Rebels premieres on Friday, October 3rd on DisneyXD.

We have been waiting months for the release of Star Wars Rebels, and unless you have been hiding in a cave for the past few months, you can’t help but see what is out there.

Star Wars Rebels is here.

In preparation for the weekly series on October 3rd, Star Wars Rebels – Spark of Rebellion premiered on Disney XD and was released on DVD at Walmart. On October 4th, Spark of Rebellion was released on iTunes. The full release will be on October 14th.

Star Wars has returned. Star Wars Rebels brings back the joy and excitement that I remembered when I first saw Star Wars 37 years ago. I love the familiarity that comes with Star Wars Rebels. While the characters are new, we know the setting. The Imperial Empire is control. I didn’t catch it the first time I saw it, but the sound of the tie-fighter flying in just took me back to the original series. Other special effects sounds and experiences have been taken from the original trilogy.

While Star Wars Rebels was made by many of the same members of Star Wars the Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels proves to be more kid-friendly.

Star Wars the Clone Wars was given a TV-PG rating. I will admit there were some story lines that were pretty dark for younger children and maybe even some adults. Star Wars Rebels has been given at TV-Y7 rating.

I love the fact that Disney is providing a Star Wars storyline that younger children can see and enjoy. The majority of video games, books and comic books that have been created for Star Wars have been made primarily for teens and older. Even the Clone Wars was geared towards older children and teens.

As a parent I was very comfortable with my boys watching Star Wars Rebels without me. This is probably the first new cartoon series I did not feel the need to watch beforehand, because I was not worried about what they would be exposed to.

The first weekly episode is to premiere October 13, 2014 on Disney XD, I have seen a short preview and we are going to be starting the weekly series with a visit from some rather familiar droids, who were in fact the first major characters who ever appeared on the silver screen. If you don’t know who I am talking about, you may need to watch Star Wars – A New Hope to find out who I am talking about.
