Young Star Wars Fans Join The Galactic Academy
For the young Star Wars fans who haven’t reached their 18th birthday, the Galactic Academy is a great choice.
As a family that loves Star Wars, ever since my boys first heard about the Galactic Academy they wanted to join. Knowing they could be a part of a community of Star Wars fans at their age helped encourage them.

At Star Wars Celebration Anaheim held this last weekend we had the privilege of volunteering at the Galactic Academy booth in the family room. Our mission was to recruit young Padawans and Cadets to join the Galactic Academy. The booth was busy the entire time we were there, signaling a great need for this community for young Star Wars fans.
Membership in the Galactic Academy is reserved for children and is absolutely free to join. All you need is a costume.
The process of applying for membership is simple. Visit Galactic Academy and send them an email with the required information. Parents share as much or as little information as they like.
While this is not an approved costuming group by Lucasfilm and there are no structured events outside of Star Wars Celebration, this is a group fit perfectly for kids.
Thursday afternoon was the official costuming photo for Galactic Academy members, which is pictured above.
When a child is approved for membership, they receive a welcome email with a certificate to commemorate the event. They are assigned a number that follows them no matter which costume they choose. My oldest son, William, is both a Stormtrooper and a Jedi. His number is 1036. As Stormtrooper William he is CTK1036 and as a Jedi he is CJED1036. The letters indicate what his costume represents. My younger son, Alexander is Boba Fett as CBHB1037 and a Jedi as CJED1037.
The real fun begins when the kids decide to do costumes for both the Imperials and Rebels.
