The ZTE SPRO 2 Home Theater Projector Rocks from Best Buy

Home Theater Projector

Home entertainment goes beyond movies and gaming by providing a way for the family to gather together and play. Recently Best Buy sent us the ZTE SPRO 2 wireless home theater projector to experience and bring the theater home.

Within a few minutes of playing the projector for the first time, we knew our gaming and movie watching experience was forever changed. Admittedly we have a television that was purchased in 2007 and although wanted to upgrade it since then, other things and adventures have always come first so we continued to watch movies on a 37″ TV.

The 5″ Android touchscreen is simple to set up and uses your Google account to link YouTube, email, and many other apps on the touchscreen. To see how easy it is to set up, check out our YouTube video below.

Movies and gaming look like nothing you’ve ever experienced before

Since I am an avid gamer, playing video games was a high priority. We connected the projector directly to our Xbox 360 gaming system and played Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. This game can only be played by accessing the internet and must be live streamed. Surprisingly there was no lag in the projector. It was able to keep up with the game and never once gave out, making this avid gamer a very happy fan for life.

As a Star Wars fan, the first movie we played on the projector was Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While it was playing in the theatre we saw it four times and only one time was better in the theatre than our experience at home with this projector. The 3D IMAX screen was the only viewing better than at home.

We were comfortably able to expand the projector screen to 110″ for viewing The Force Awakens. Although it is recommend to use on a white wall, our walls are painted a tan color and we saw no noticeable difference in coloring. The controls allow for white balance if you need to adjust the final effect. Additionally, our walls are not smooth and have a texture to them so the tan textured walls are not ideal for using a projector and we only noticed the texture if we sat up really close to the wall. When we sat at a comfortable distance for viewing, we did not notice the wall texture.

We had friends over to visit and we were able to watch a movie comfortably together with nine people. Before we had the projector we were all cramped together reminiscent of our early childhood gathered around a tiny screen. Now we are able to spread out and everyone can see the screen well.

Portable Projector

A projector that is slightly larger than the size of your hand and easy to carry makes this a portable projector to take on vacation, camping, over to a friend’s house, presentations at work, or use it at your local community gathering place. The carrying case and all the cords are included with the projector.

Projector App

App Makes Adjustments Easy

Even though this is an Android based device, an iPhone app was downloaded onto my phone and could easily control the projector with the touch of a button. Easily change settings and scroll through the screen with the app as if you had your hands on the projector.

The projector provides adjustments for a ceiling mount and inverting the screen to also changed the pitch of the screen left or right as it may need adjustments for slanting.

Picture Clarity

Picture clarity is something very surprising from such a tiny projector. Although there is an auto focus feature, we did not find it to be helpful for us. Perhaps it is because our walls are textured and possibly interfering with the focus. Turning off the auto focus and adjusting it manually made the focus crystal clear on our walls. Your experience may be different than ours if you have smooth walls but if you are struggling to get it to focus and have textured walls, turn off the auto focus and manually do it in order to get a crisp clear image.

Built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth makes connecting to other products easy for your viewing needs. Although it has a great sound for small to large audiences, in order to enrich the viewing experience we connected our Vizio Sound Bar and this completed the home theater experience with surround sound. Add the smell of popcorn and it would be hard to remember if you are in a movie theater or in the comfort of your own home.

The ZTE SPRO 2 Wireless Smart DLP Projector retails at $549.99 at Best Buy.

Although Best Buy sent us this product to try and a home projector has been on our home theater list for a long time, this is a product we would definitely spend our own money on to purchase because the quality of the picture, portability, and ability to expand the viewing screen to a huge capacity provides an awesome experience for gaming, movies, or your favorite sporting event.

With over 50 hours of gaming and movie viewing time, the ZTE SPRO 2 home theater projector maintains clarity, sound, and keeps up with even the most demanding viewing needs for an active gamer and her plugged in family.
